Steamed to keep out worms in storage.
I have bought (bulk) oats at the health store that had worms in them, now I'm happy. Yes I heard oats like Quaker and storebrand have been 'steamrolled'
Must say unfiltered and cold pressed and even then you should check with the producer. (substitute Avocado)
Stone pressed is good, but yes, check producer.

If shelled they've been boiled or steamed. (substitute soaked Walnuts or Hazelnuts)
I have taken pecans directly from the tree and cracked two together, one after the other by hand, just one hand, nothing else, verry deliscious. It might depend on which variety you get as to how to open them all.
